AFCON 2019 MATCH UPDATE: Nigeria vs Madagascar

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has made five changes to the Super Eagles’ line-up as the three-time African champions look forward to a Group B encounter against Madagascar in the Africa Cup of Nations as both sides look to clash at the Alexandria Stadium with the winner looking  to possibly top the group.
Nigeria are comfortably through as they were first to secure a ticket into the round 16 with six points from their first two matches in the group phase, while Madagascar have four points, securing a win over fellow debutantes Burundi, having played out a draw with Guinea and must record a positive result to be sure of a place in the last 16, while Nigeria’s six points have come from wins over Burundi and Guinea.
In other tweak,Super Eagles coach Rohr will deploy 4-2-3-1 formation against the well-organised Madagascar team. With duo of Leon Balogun and William Troost-Ekong playing at the heart of defence as Leon  replaces Kenneth Omeruo at centre-backs while Ola Aina and Chidozie Awaziem remain unchanged and will operate as left and right backs respectively.
Captain John Obi Mikel, Oghenekaro Etebo and John Ogu are the three midfielders named for the game, as the latter replaces Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi.
Odion Ighalo will lead the line for the second game in a row and will be ably supported by Samuel Kalu and Ahmed Musa, as arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi is set to sit out this encounter or come on as a second half substitute.
